Meet and Greet

We arrange a free ‘Meet and Greet’ visit for all new clients before your cat-sitting begins so that you can meet your cat-sitter and ask them any questions. You can tell us about your cat’s personality, their food and where they eat, portion sizes, litter changing and any concerns you may have.

We will collect information about regular habits, medication and where in your home the cats are safe to go.

We will collect house keys and learn about secure access plus any alarm systems we need to be aware of.

We make sure to collect all your contact information before you leave, plus an emergency local contact just in case.

We also collect your vet details. In the event that urgent care is needed, we will take your cat to your vet or an emergency vet if it's out of hours.

Step 1 - Arrival

On arrival we make sure doors are safely closed before checking on your cat. They can sometimes be waiting on the other side of the door so it’s important that we also check carefully before opening the door to avoid escapees!

Step 2 - Greeting

Some of our cats rush to meet us, others run and hide. All are different and our experienced cat-sitters know the best ways to greet their cats. For those that like a fuss we spend some time stroking, cuddling and chatting with them. They are likely to have been alone for several hours and may need some human contact straight away.

For those that are more shy or timid, we take their lead and let them do whatever makes them feel safe. Some spend our whole visit under (or in!) the bed, and that’s fine. Many cats are too nervous to approach a stranger at all and for these cats we simply put out everything they need, clean their trays and quietly leave to minimise the time that they feel stress. They can then come out of hiding and enjoy a peaceful dinner in their own time.

We take this opportunity to give your cat a quick check over to make sure they are well and healthy, particularly for cats that go outdoors. Occasionally they may have picked up a scratch or bump so we give them a quick once-over to check, and take any action necessary to ensure their wellbeing.

Step 3 - Feeding

For many cats, we are strongly associated with their food so after greetings are over, we move straight on to feeding. We wash their bowls and put out a fresh portion of their usual food as per your instructions.

During the visit we keep a check on how much they have eaten and report back to you, so you can tell if they are eating less or more than usual. In multi-cat households we keep an eye on them while they eat to make sure there isn’t any squabbling or food-stealing!

Step 4 - Litter

Most of our customers have a litter tray for their cats, even if they go outdoors. We follow your instructions on how often to change litter, where to put the contents (poop bags, outdoor bins etc) and we check the trays at every visit. We also carry our own kit bags so we are always armed with scoops, bin bags, wipes and cloths in case of any excess mess. We always clean up any accidents that may occur outside the tray or elsewhere in the house.

Some cats like to visit their litter trays straight after eating so we may do a second ‘scoop’ so that the tray is still clean for them when we leave.

Step 5 - Play Time!

The best part!

Now is the time we can sit and have a play with your cats (but only if they want to). We give them lots of attention and strokes, talk to them and let them play with their favourite toys. Laser pointers are a favourite for many, and this gives them some exercise as they rush around chasing the red dot!

We brush them if they enjoy it, and finally take some photos or video to send in our daily updates. Sometimes photos aren’t possible for cats who are shy, so we don’t disturb them and simply send you message updates instead.

Step 6 - Home Security and Final Checks

As well as visiting your cats we can also do some basic home security tasks such as closing curtains, switching lamps and lights on, watering plants and putting bins out. If you would like us to do this please let us know at your Meet & Greet visit. We don’t display brand advertising on our vehicles so we won't draw any attention to you being away from home.

We can make your home look ‘lived in’ thereby reducing the risk of burglary or other anti-social behaviour.

We are also on hand for any emergencies such as leaks, faulty alarms etc. and can inform you as soon as possible if we notice anything unusual.

For outdoor cats, we check cat-flaps are working and ensure timers are set where necessary. Finally, we check all external windows and doors are secure, before saying our goodbyes and leaving your cats for a well-earned snooze.

What our wonderful customers say

Check out our reviews from Facebook - if you're happy with our service feel free to leave one too!

We've been with My Three Cats for nearly two years and they're the best cat sitters we've ever used.

When we first met Wendy at our home, she told us about her cat background and experience and introduced herself to our cat Spook. She wanted to know all about her - Spook's personality, likes & dislikes, favourite toys, diet, health record, any special requests when we're away, etc. We were impressed and decided to give My Three Cats a go, initially for a short break to see how Spook coped.

Spook always gets VIP treatment from Wendy and Eloise. We look forward to their updates after each visit, with lovely photos of Spook and sometimes videos of her playing or just chilling out. We can tell from the photos that she's relaxed and content. As it's always Wendy or Eloise looking after Spook, she's got the continuity that cat's need and they've become her family when we're away. As well as spoiling Spook with plenty of cuddles and playtime they clean her bowls each visit, feed the birds, and even check our house for uninvited guests (our cat loves to surprise us with small rodents on a regular basis!). They always go the extra mile.

We're so pleased and also relieved we found My Three Cats as we can now relax and enjoy our trips away knowing that Spook and our home are in safe hands. It's not just a job for them, as with some pet sitters out there, but they love being with and understand cats.

A big thank you to Wendy and Eloise from us, but most of all from Spook 😻. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend My Three Cats.
We used My Three Cats after reading reviews online and I have to agree! Sophie was fantastic! She was so nice when we first met her and I knew she shared the same love for cats that I do instantly. We got regular updates and pictures. Would definitely recommend.
Response from the owner:Thank you Stephanie! Sophie loves looking after your handsome boy, and we’ve loved seeing his photos and reading Sophie’s messages about what he’s been up to too! Hope to see him again soon x
Wonderful service from Naomi! We felt so confident leaving our cat in her VERY capable care for a few days. Would highly recommend 🤩 thank you
Response from the owner:Hello and thank you so much for your review for Naomi - she loves to give the VIP treatment and is so happy that you’re pleased with our service. I hope we can help out again if you ever need us 😺🐾
Carolyn is absolutely brilliant with my cat Bella. Carolyn has visited Bella multiple times since I have had her and although Bella can be very shy she always eagerly greets Carolyn at the door. I know she is in safe hands with Carolyn. Her reports are really thorough and informative with photos so I know exactly what Bella has been up to, what she’s eaten and that’s she is happy. Carolyn is very attentive to my cat’s needs and even brings her treats occasionally. I feel happy going away knowing Carolyn is taking care of Bella
Response from the owner:Hi Laura and thank you for taking the time to send a review. Carolyn is amazing and truly gets to know each cat she cares for as if they were her own. We’re so happy that you feel confident leaving Bella’s care to us while you go away. She is a beautiful girl and we love seeing her photos too 🥰
Fantastic service from My Three Cats. My two cats were cared for so well by Naomi. She sent me details of every visit with photos of them. One needed medication and this was done with care every day. One is quite shy but he came to trust her and rubbed against her legs. I would definitely recommend this company and will be using them again myself.
Response from the owner:We're so happy that you are pleased with our service Janice, it can be such a worry leaving your cats especially if they need medication. Naomi loved looking after them for you, and we hope we can help you out again for future holidays.
I cannot recommend My Three Cats enough 🐾 Wendy and Carolyn took the greatest care of Hope and Mittens and to see daily updates, videos and pictures of how content and happy they are in their own home makes your holiday.
Hope and Mittens both adored you 🥰🥰
Thank you so so much xx
Response from the owner:Thank you for a lovely review Paula, it was a real pleasure to look after your 3 gorgeous kitties. Glad they were all happy when you got home. Any time you need us again just shout. Wendy 😺🐈 xx
