Meet and Greet

We arrange a free ‘Meet and Greet’ visit for all new clients before your cat-sitting begins so that you can meet your cat-sitter and ask them any questions. You can tell us about your cat’s personality, their food and where they eat, portion sizes, litter changing and any concerns you may have.

We will collect information about regular habits, medication and where in your home the cats are safe to go.

We will collect house keys and learn about secure access plus any alarm systems we need to be aware of.

We make sure to collect all your contact information before you leave, plus an emergency local contact just in case.

We also collect your vet details. In the event that urgent care is needed, we will take your cat to your vet or an emergency vet if it's out of hours.

Step 1 - Arrival

On arrival we make sure doors are safely closed before checking on your cat. They can sometimes be waiting on the other side of the door so it’s important that we also check carefully before opening the door to avoid escapees!

Step 2 - Greeting

Some of our cats rush to meet us, others run and hide. All are different and our experienced cat-sitters know the best ways to greet their cats. For those that like a fuss we spend some time stroking, cuddling and chatting with them. They are likely to have been alone for several hours and may need some human contact straight away.

For those that are more shy or timid, we take their lead and let them do whatever makes them feel safe. Some spend our whole visit under (or in!) the bed, and that’s fine. Many cats are too nervous to approach a stranger at all and for these cats we simply put out everything they need, clean their trays and quietly leave to minimise the time that they feel stress. They can then come out of hiding and enjoy a peaceful dinner in their own time.

We take this opportunity to give your cat a quick check over to make sure they are well and healthy, particularly for cats that go outdoors. Occasionally they may have picked up a scratch or bump so we give them a quick once-over to check, and take any action necessary to ensure their wellbeing.

Step 3 - Feeding

For many cats, we are strongly associated with their food so after greetings are over, we move straight on to feeding. We wash their bowls and put out a fresh portion of their usual food as per your instructions.

During the visit we keep a check on how much they have eaten and report back to you, so you can tell if they are eating less or more than usual. In multi-cat households we keep an eye on them while they eat to make sure there isn’t any squabbling or food-stealing!

Step 4 - Litter

Most of our customers have a litter tray for their cats, even if they go outdoors. We follow your instructions on how often to change litter, where to put the contents (poop bags, outdoor bins etc) and we check the trays at every visit. We also carry our own kit bags so we are always armed with scoops, bin bags, wipes and cloths in case of any excess mess. We always clean up any accidents that may occur outside the tray or elsewhere in the house.

Some cats like to visit their litter trays straight after eating so we may do a second ‘scoop’ so that the tray is still clean for them when we leave.

Step 5 - Play Time!

The best part!

Now is the time we can sit and have a play with your cats (but only if they want to). We give them lots of attention and strokes, talk to them and let them play with their favourite toys. Laser pointers are a favourite for many, and this gives them some exercise as they rush around chasing the red dot!

We brush them if they enjoy it, and finally take some photos or video to send in our daily updates. Sometimes photos aren’t possible for cats who are shy, so we don’t disturb them and simply send you message updates instead.

Step 6 - Home Security and Final Checks

As well as visiting your cats we can also do some basic home security tasks such as closing curtains, switching lamps and lights on, watering plants and putting bins out. If you would like us to do this please let us know at your Meet & Greet visit. We don’t display brand advertising on our vehicles so we won't draw any attention to you being away from home.

We can make your home look ‘lived in’ thereby reducing the risk of burglary or other anti-social behaviour.

We are also on hand for any emergencies such as leaks, faulty alarms etc. and can inform you as soon as possible if we notice anything unusual.

For outdoor cats, we check cat-flaps are working and ensure timers are set where necessary. Finally, we check all external windows and doors are secure, before saying our goodbyes and leaving your cats for a well-earned snooze.

I honestly can’t recommend My Three Cats enough. Their service is fantastic. Our cat sitter, Lorna, is amazing. She knows everything about our little Kitty and takes such good care of her while we are away. We get updates with photos and videos so our minds are completely at ease. I wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Just brilliant.
We have been using My Three Cats for a long time and I can’t rate the service and experience high enough. We go away knowing our cats are being well looked after. They’re always very chilled out when we get home. Wendy and Eloise are brilliant with them. The time to pet app is great. We love getting the updates and photos after each visit. Helps us feel connected while we are away. It’s also great that someone is opening and closing curtains each day, putting bins out etc.
Response from the owner:Hello Karen! We love visiting your gorgeous boys when you go away, they are so lovely and I feel like we have a really good bond with them. Thank you for trusting us with their care. Wendy & Eloise x
Our five cats have just enjoyed another weekend being looked after by the lovely Sophie. It was really important to us to find a cat sitting service where the sitters would spend time fussing and playing with the cats as well as attending to their feeding and litter tray needs. Sophie looks after them all as if they were her own, making sure their individual quirks are catered for and spending time cuddling, fussing and playing with them. She sends us the most lovely updates during each visit. I'm sure they can't wait for us to go away again so they can have fun with Sophie!!
Response from the owner:Hi Helen! We really appreciate you taking the time to write a review, and love that you've been so pleased with our service. Sophie has truly loved looking after your little gang of kitties, I think she now sees herself as their adopted auntie! She says that she's already booked your next holiday for you so she can spend more time with them ha ha! Thanks again, and hugs to the cats x
Absolutely amazing pet sitter! Eloise took incredible care of our cat, Chester, while we were away. She was reliable, trustworthy, and went above and beyond to ensure Chester’s happiness and well-being. I received regular updates and photos, which gave me peace of mind. I highly recommend My 3 Cats to anyone in need of a pet sitter. Thank you for your excellent service.
Response from the owner:Thank you for such a lovely review Andreea, Chester is adorable and Eloise loved visiting him and looking after him for you. We're really glad that we've been able to put your mind at ease while you went away. Hope to see Chester again soon. Wendy
Fantastic care from My Three Cats for our lovely boy James! Wendy went above and beyond to make sure James was cared for, felt safe and all his needs were met when we were away overnight recently. We felt totally reassured and knew he was in good hands. Loved reading the update report and pics and video of our boy safely at home. Totally appreciate this after a stressful cattery experience previously. Thank you My Three Cats! Highly recommend ☺️
Response from the owner:Thank you for such a lovely review Naomi! James was a superstar and it was a real pleasure to look after him. He seemed to love being able to snooze in his favourite spots while you were away and posed happily for photos to show you he was having a nice time! We're so glad that you felt reassured after your previous experience. Hope to see James again soon! Wendy
Eloise looked after our Cat when we went away for 10 days. She was absolutely amazing and goes above and beyond for your cats. There was a situation where our cat went wandering and her tracker showed that she was a significant way from home, Eloise and the team worked hard to get her back before it became dark. I cannot thank them enough
Response from the owner:Thank you Jess, you're very welcome - we would never leave her and always rally round as a team if something untoward happens like this. Thankfully your tracker worked a treat and helped us to find her quickly and get her back to the safety of her home promptly. Our app was also invaluable allowing us to contact you easily and keep you informed. We like using tech and in this case it really did make a big difference. Hope your holiday got easier after this! Wendy x
